Bach Flower Remedies

Edward Bach in the early 1930s believed that extracts from plants, especially flowers, could relieve many a malady. He devised 38 remedies to medicate his patients with. He was one of the first to believe that body and mind were closely linked and therefore in order to restore good health to a patient, he had to administer to the emotions too. Each of his remedies targeted a different feeling.

Even today, many medical practitioners echo his philosophy that unless you treat the mind, you cannot help the bodily affliction.

Dr. Bach conceived of a system whereby he classified people into seven principal groups according to their emotions like loneliness, uncertainty and fear. Under these classifications, he established 38 categories of negativity. Dr. Bach had the advantage of knowing homeopathy as well. This helped him develop a natural remedy from plants and flowers to cater to each of these negative emotions. These remedies are specific to Dr. Bach.

Dr. Bach lived in Mount Vernon in Oxfordshire. This is where he worked and after extensive research discovered that flowers growing in the hedgerows and fields in that area had healing powers. Those who run the Dr. Edward Bach Centre established there continue doing what the doctor had started, culling flowers and closely following the process and the use of the medicines he had first devised. For those interested in learning how to use Dr. Bach’s Flower Remedies, the Edward Bach Centre offers training courses.

From the 90s people seem to be under more stress and Dr. Bach’s remedies could be just the thing you are looking for. The demand on your emotions could find you in a situation where you feel you just can’t cope. The Bach treatment could rid you of these feelings.

The remedies are one of a kind since they stimulate your own body’s healing system. The negative elements are balanced and within a short period, you will find you are in control. The treatment generates a feel-good sense and you look positively forward, confident that life has more to offer.

Another factor to consider is that these remedies are easy to use and harmless, therefore the whole family can make use of them. Besides, they are easily available in pharmacies and stores that stock health food. A naturopath could give you a prescription or you could choose the remedy depending on what state of mind you are in. Dowsing is also recommended.

Do you feel stressed out, suffer panic attacks and experience cold feet in an emergency? Try the Rescue Remedy. It is a combination of Cherry Plum, Star of Bethlehem, Rock Rose and Impatiens in equal proportions.
