Healing With Homoeopathy

Homoeopathy derives its name from the Greek homeios meaning like and pathos meaning disease. Homoeopathic treatment involves the administration of minute doses of drugs and salts which produce the symptoms of a particular disease in a normal healthy individual. Almost like a vaccine.

The underlying principles of homoeopathy have been known to man for thousands of years. The modern therapy however, owes its foundation to Doctor Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician who studied, experimented and documented the treatment during the late 18th century.

Doctor Hahnemann created this scientifically rational and safe healing system to combat the barbaric and appallingly savage medical practices of the day. His philosophy of healing through a natural process remains unchanged to this day.
Hahnemann wrote in 1796: Similia similibus curentur, meaning ‘like cures like’. A substance that can cause the symptoms of a disease in a healthy person is capable of curing the symptoms in an individual who has that disease. So he named the system Homoeopathy from the Greek, ‘similar suffering or disease’.

Someone gave Hahnemann a paper stating that cinchona bark or china cured malaria thanks to its bitter and astringent properties. Finding the theory unbelievable, he decided to ingest some china.  He noticed malarial symptoms which disappeared a few hours later and only reappeared on repeating the dosage. He experimented on healthy friends, noting the drug’s effect on each one and noticing the same reaction but the strength, the variety of symptoms and the recovery rate differed between individuals. With this Hahnemann felt his theory proven and referred to the symptoms list as ‘the proving’.

Homoeopathy involves taking the smallest dose to stimulate an individual’s natural defenses. Early studies showed an initial, severe aggravation to the homoeopathy treatment. Realizing that the dosage was too much, he progressively diluted the dose.  To his surprise he found that the remedy became more powerful, the more it was diluted. This he termed as the Degrees of Dilution Potencies. This process in turn, dilutes all vestiges of the harmfulness of the drug which is then energized by vigorously shaking it a hundred times through a process called Succussion.

Dilution and Succussion are the repeated addition of distilled water or alcohol or solvent to a prepared substance to dilute it, then putting it through a process of vigorous shaking to energize it. The captured energy of the original substance is transmitted to the diluting substance whether water or alcohol. As more and more dilutions and succussions are carried out, the toxicity is diluted out but a more potent and deeper acting medication is released as kinetic energy.

This makes the micro doses taken nontoxic and safe. Hahnemann found that this energy acted dynamically, stimulating the body's vital force and healing energy, removing the disharmony and bringing back health.

All the remedies are natural, derived from plants, minerals and some from animal sources like secretions, snake venom, bee sting and are all known to be effective to humankind. As with all medication, homoeopathic medication must be stored under cool dry conditions and away from direct sunlight.
